Siskins Hold Off Cyclones In Series Opener

Two second period goals gave Waterloo the win in the opening game of the GOJHL Midwest Quarter-Finals.

The Siskins scored at the 6:55 and 16:58 marks of the period and never relinquished the lead and won the game 2-1.

The Cyclones only goal came early in the third period when Holdyn Lansink took a puck on the near boards and snapped a shot over the shoulder of Waterloo goalie Mitchell Datz.

While the Listowel penalty kill kept Waterloo's power play 0-for-5 in the game, the Cyclones couldn't score with the man advantage either going 0-for-7. That included a 5-on-3 opportunity in the third period.

Game 2 is Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm in Waterloo.
