Hawks Shake Off Slow Start

The Kincardine Bulldogs cracked the scoreboard first but the Walkerton Hawks overcame a sluggish start and won Game 3 of the Western Jr. C Final 5-2.

Unlike the first two games, there was only one power play goal and that came off the stick of Kincardine captain Gerrit Satosek in the first period. He took a drop pass from Shawn Moore and beat Walkerton goalie Nick Redman. Kincardine out shot Walkerton 9-3 in the first period.

The Hawks found their legs in the second. Tyler Cunningham scored twice to give Walkerton in the lead. And in a turnaround, the Hawks out shot Kincardine 14-4.

In the third period, Kincardine was able tie the game early when a point shot from Hunter Robbins-Gibbons found the back of the net. But Walkerton busted it open as league scoring champion scored twice in a two minute span to break it open.

Walkerton leads the series 2-1.

Game 4 is in Kincardine tonight at 7:30pm.
