Siskins Find Ways To Win

The Waterloo Siskins continue to do what it takes to win in the playoffs.

Waterloo beat Stratford 5-3 in the opening game of the Cherrey Cup Final.

The Siskins got on the board early scoring 56-seconds into the first period then scoring again with just over a minute to play in the period. Both goals scored by Gary Mantz.

Stratford would get on the board 1:37 into the second period courtesy of Jack Scanlan. But Waterloo got that one back just 27-seconds later on Mantz's third goal of the game. The Siskins went up by three goals a minute later. The team's exchanged goals later in the period as Waterloo left the ice with a 5-2 lead.

The only goal in the third was scored on a Stratford power play off the stick of Tyson Baker.

Stratford was 1-for-6 on the power play and out shot the Siskins 43-38.

Game 2 is Sunday night at 7pm in Waterloo.
