The announcement was made Wednesday.
McFadden was a first round selection in the OHL Priority Selection and the last remaining player from the 2014 championship team.
The 5' 11", 181 lb defenceman has appeared in 166 career OHL games and has 66 points with nine playoff appearances.
This past week, McFadden attended the Philadelphia Flyers training camp as a free agent invite but now returns to Guelph.
