Listowel Trainer Recognized By OHA

This year's Sutherland Cup win by the Listowel Cyclones has been celebrated by many and so has the hard work from those behind the scenes.

And the OHA has taken note of the work done by Cory Birk.

The Cyclones' trainer has been named Trainer Of The Year.

Birk is a Registered Physiotherapist at New Horizons Rehabilitation Services in Listowel where he has worked since 2007.

His experience also includes therapist at the Hockey Canada Men’s Under-17 Summer Development Camp in 2015, Athletic Therapist at the 2015 Canada Winter Games for Team Ontario’s Men’s Under-16 Hockey Team and Team Ontario’s Women’s Under-18 Hockey Team.

He also helps with the rugby and soccer teams at Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerston.

The team describes Birk as a gracious, humble, hard working professional.

In a release from the OHA, Listowel co-captain Caleb Warren says Birk's work is a reason for the success and growth of the hockey program.

In the past two seasons, the Cyclones have won two Cherrey Cups as GOJHL Midwestern Conference Champions and the 2018 OHA Sutherland Cup and Cory Birk has been on the bench and working behind the seasons for all three championships.
