Chatsworth West Grey Dodgers swing for gold, individuals shine at U14 tournament

The Chatsworth West Grey Dodgers play at eleven this morning and win will put them into the gold medal game U14 Canadian Fast Pitch Championships in Saskatoon.

The Dodgers beat Napanee 7-1 in their first playoff game Tuesday.

Dakota McComb pitched 3 2/3 innings striking out six batters. Joseph Weiler then pitched the final 3 innings to close out the game.

With the game tied at one going into the bottom of the fifth, the Dodgers exploded for five runs to take a commanding lead.

Offensively in the game Joseph Weiler had a double and two singles, Dakota MCComb had a triple and a single, Austin Farlow hit a single to bring home 2 runs and Carley Becker also had two RBI’s.

Awards were also handed out on Tuesday.

Dodgers pitcher Dakota McComb was named Top Pitcher. He threw 27 innings, allowed just 1 earned run, struck out 52 batters and carried a 0.26 ERA through the round robin.

Kohen Ronnenburg and Joseph Weiler earned Outfield Awards with Ronnenburg batting.526 and Weiler batting .421.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
