SFTC athletes bring home 11 medals from Youth National Track and Field Championships

Wingham's Ryan Jacklin is bringing home three gold medals from the Youth National Track and Field Championships in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Jacklin, a member of the Saugeen Track and Field Club, set a new Canadian record with a throw of 69.74 metres in the 5k Hammer. He also was first in U18 Men's shot put and discus.

Fellow STFC member Jeremy Elliott of Walkerton earned silver in U18 men's hammer and discus.

In all the club earned 11 medals at the meet: Harley Martin won silver in U16 women's javelin and shot put; Lucas Jacklin won silver in U16 men's javelin; Hanna Van Stuyvenberg won silver in U18 women's discus; Billie Martin, silver U18 women's hammer; Michelle Van Stuyvenberg, bronze U16 women's hammer.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
