Local golfers teeing off at pro and amateur events

Elmira's Garrett Rank sunk three birdies in his 1-under-par 70 second round at the 33rd Canadian Men's Mid-Amateur Championship in Richmond Hill.

He's 6-under overall and has a two stroke lead.

Rank says wind and firmer greens were a challenge.

Meanwhile, Listowel's Corey Conners will tee off at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta Thursday as part of the PGA's Tour Championship.

Conners' tee time is 12:15 p.m.

The Listowel native's seventh place finish at the BMW Championship earned him a berth to the Tour Championship and put him 23rd in the FedEx Cup rankings.
