Ironmen hold on in rough and tumble affair against Goderich

The Goderich Flyers gave the Wingham Ironmen all they could handle in a 1-0 Ironmen win.

The only goal of the game came at the 5:49 mark of the second period off the stick of Kyle Stanbury, his first goal of the season, with assists to Chris Adlys and Dawson Fahrer.

Goderich had chances but went 0-5 on the power play.

The intensity boiled over in the second period when the Flyers' Avery Timmermans and Tanner Reid were sent to the dressing rooms for a combined 23 minutes in penalties. Another 15 minutes of penalties were called in the third with the Ironmen taking the majority of those calls.

Goderich goalie Spencer Lazarevich stopped 32 shots but took the loss while Devon Carson stopped all 22 shots he faced.

Wingham will host Mitchell on Friday and will be featured on Cherrey Buslines OHA Hockey on CKNX. Goderich will host Walkerton on Saturday.
