OFSAA Senior Girls Volleyball Tournament to be hosted at local school

A local school will be hosting a prestigious tournament this spring.

In March of 2020 Walkerton District Community School will be hosting the OFSAA Senior Girls Volleyball Championships. Walkerton Senior Girls Coach Donnette Wand says hosting the tournament will be great for the school, students and athletes.

"It's going to be a great opportunity for our students and school community. There's a lot of organization, and it'll either be a 16 or 20 team volleyball tournament, and we have a big committee that's really excited to put this tournament on."

The tournament will take place over three days in Walkerton at Walkerton District Community School and Kincardine at the Davidson Centre, with over 240 athletes from across Ontario coming to compete for Senior Girls Volleyball dominance. Wand and her fellow coach, Tanya Byers, have been prepping their team for a long time for something like this.

"We've been kind of building this team, we started a spikes program a long time ago, and we've been building this team since the girls were probably 8 years old."
