OHL: Struthers makes his presence felt; Daws goes the distance

Owen Sound 6 Niagara 5 (OT)

Matthew Struthers return to Owen Sound was a triumphant one. He scored the game winner in overtime to lift the Attack over the Ice Dogs 6-5. He also had two assists on the night.

Struthers was acquired from the North Bay Battalion on Monday in exchange for three draft picks. He began his career in Owen Sound before moving to North Bay in 2018.

Barret Kirwin and Ethan Burroughs each had a pair of goals for Owen Sound in the win. Deni Goure also scored for the Attack.

The Attack led for most of the game before giving up a 5-3 lead in the latter half of the third and allowing the Ice Dogs to tie the game with just over five minutes left in regulation.

Struther's game winner game on the power play at 2:19 of the extra frame, assisted by Brady Lyle and Sergey Popov.

Guelph 3 Saginaw 2

The Storm's Nico Daws made 38 saves and stopped every attempt in the shoot out in a marathon 3-2 win over Saginaw.

The Spirit were first on the board when Dalton Duhart found the twine at 6:38 of the first. Matthew Papais tied the game 13 minutes into the opening frame. Mason Millman put the Spirit ahead less than two minutes later to give Saginaw a 2-1 lead heading into the second.

Cooper Walker scored the equalizer at 8:04 of the third.

Pavel Gogolev was the lone scorer in the shoot out to give the Storm the win.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
