Patriots led by potent offence

Mount Forest Patriots forward Jack Birkett has a career high 50 points thanks to three goals and one assist in a 7-1 Mount Forest win over Goderich Sunday.

Birkett scored short handed, on the power play and even strength goal to help his team win its 19th game of the season. Michael Stefanelli, Troy Weber and Thomas Coulter also scored for the Patriots. Mitch Fisher has the lone goal for Goderich.

With the win, Mount Forest keeps close to the top, just three points back of the Wingham Ironmen who lead the division with 42 points.

For Birkett, his four point performance puts him at the top of the list in scoring for the Pollock Division with 50 points in 23 games, two points more than teammate Riley Cribbin. Birkett also has the division lead in goals with 26.

That improves on his 2018-2019 campaign when he had 43 points in 42 games.

Next up for Mount Forest will be home games against Hanover, Friday night at 8:30 p.m., and Mitchell, Saturday night at 8 p.m.

Goderich has a three game weekend with trips to Walkerton Friday night and Kincardine Sunday afternoon. Sandwiched in between is a home game against Wingham Saturday night.
