Cyclones rally sets up double OT win

The Listowel Cyclones were able to play come back in a double overtime win Sunday.

Listowel trailed 3-1 going into the third period against Brantford.

Tyler Hotson scored his 12th goal of the season midway through the third period to pull Listowel to within one. Then a last minute push paid dividends as Jaden Goldie scored the tying goal with just nine seconds left in the third period.

The game went into double overtime and Rylan Bowers scored the winner 1:48 into the period.

The win ended the weekend on a positive note for Listowel, after losing 3-0 to Elmira Friday and 5-2 in Kitchener Saturday. It also keeps Listowel ahead of Stratford by a couple of points for fourth place.

Listowel has two more games before the Christmas break. The Cyclones will be home to Kitchener on Friday, December 20 and then play in Cambridge on Saturday. Both teams are in the top three in the Midwest Conference.

Elsewhere in the GOJHL Midwest, Elmira beat Kitchener 5-4 in double overtime with Jeremy Goodwin scoring the winner. Waterloo beat Brampton 4-2.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
