Ironmen acquire Walkerton captain Donnelly in big trade

The Wingham Ironmen are pushing their chips into the middle of the table.

After another great start to a regular season, Wingham aren't resting on their laurels, as they acquired forward and longtime Walketon Hawks captain Justin Donnelly in a trade last night for young forward Brayden Fischer.

Donnelly was leading the Hawks in scoring with 25 points in 24 games, while Fischer has 4 points in 26 games by virtue of playing further down the lineup on a stacked team. Fischer will now get an opportunity to get more ice time and grow with a rebuilding Hawks squad, while Donnelly will chase the title with the Ironmen, who came up just short in some bitter title battles with Mount Forest. Donnelly, a Walkerton native, has also had brief stints in Jr. B with LaSalle and Brantford, and in 99 career PJHL games, he has 101 points.
