Wingham takes early lead in PJHL semi-finals

The Wingham Ironmen took the opener of the PJHL Pollock Division, 4-1 over Kincardine.
The first period set the tone of the game as Wingham scored in the first minute and the last minute of the period.
The opening goal at 53 seconds, was a back hand shot off the stick of Tanner Reid after a scramble in front of the net. Kincardine would tie the game on the power play at the 16:35 mark courtesy of Jacob Traynor.
Brady Becker would give Wingham the lead with just five seconds left in the period when he scooped up a rebound of the glove of goalie Sean Andrus and put the puck in the net.
That ended up to be the winner as Wingham would add two more in the second period with Coleson Fischer scoring on a 3-on-1 and Logan Tolton banging in a rebound.
Game 2 of the series is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Kincardine.
Game 2 of the other semi-final, featuring Mount Forest and Mitchell, is at Saturday at 7:15 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
