Local athlete accepts York University scholarship

A Sacred Heart High School student has 'thrown' his way into York University.

Jeremy Elliott has competed with the Saugeen Track and Field Club in weight throw, hammer, discus and shot put. And now he's accepted an offer of admission to York University in Toronto that includes the maximum amount for the York University Renewable Entrance Athletic Scholarship and the York University Academic Entrance Scholarship.

Elliott has earned him six Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) medals and five national medals.

In the fall of 2020, Jeremy will be studying Kinesiology and developing his skills as a thrower under the direction of Richard Parkinson, Athletics Canada High Performance Coach - Throws.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
