Wingham sweeps semi-final series

The Wingham Ironmen are first to reach the PJHL Pollock Division final.

Wingham beat Kincardine 3-2 Wednesday night to sweep their semi-final series.

The Ironmen opened the scoring in the first period as Corey Restoule scored at the 7:55 mark.

The teams would go back and forth in the second period as Kent Ribey tied the game. Ironmen forward Brady Becker gave Wingham the lead again a short time later then Kincardine's Brett Burrows tied it again.

The winner came with just 10 seconds left in the second as Kyle Stanbury scored to give Wingham the 3-2 win. There was no scoring in the third period.

Stanbury led the way in the series with six points in four games including the hat trick in game three. He also recorded the game winning goals in games three and four.

Wingham will wait for the winner of the Mount Forest - Mitchell series which continues Saturday in Mount Forest at 8 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
