Horse trained by Owen Sound resident wins Super Final

An Owen Sound trainer and an Arthur driver lead the way to a title in a three-year-old trotting colt Super Final at Woodbine Mohawk Park over the weekend.

The Super Finals were held Saturday night and Pemberton won the $250,000 final.

Pemberton is trained by Owen Sound's Paul Walker for his wife Brenda and their daughter Christine, who lives in Tara.

Arthur native Trevor Henry was in the race bike as Pemberton sat fourth in the early part of the race but edged to the front by the halfway marker and finished with a 1:52.4 mark.

“Trevor was very impressed with him, has been all along,” said Walker. “I mean we’ve always liked him, but you keep thinking, well one of these times these guys are going to beat him, but he raced him a different way tonight again and it didn’t make any difference.”

Pemberton will now begin preparations for the four-year-old campaign.
