Lucknow runner ready for another race, NHL playoff banter

Lucknow's Julie-Anne Staehli will run another race in California Saturday, coming off last week's Olympic standard run in the women's 5000 m.

Staehli joins MWO Sports on CKNX to talk her start in running and her journey through university athletics to where she is now.

And at this point she is ranked number one in the country in her event.

"Every performance, every time that you run gets converted into points. So essentially running at big meets, placing high and running fast is what gives you those big points," said Staehli.

But she stresses the competition is tough and she will continue to compete, which includes Saturday's race in Irvine, California.

There is still the possibility of the national trials to be held in June.

"We might have the trials happening," added Staehli. "And whoever wins the trials goes. But right now we're not sure if it is just going to come down to season performances."

Staehli continues to train hard running up to 120 km per week and weight training three times a week.

Also joining MWO Sports tonight is TSN's Dave Poulin talk about the NHL playoffs.

MWO Sports can be heard on CKNX AM 920 at 6 p.m. and at cknx.ca.
