GOJHL looks towards late September start

The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League will look to start its regular season September 24th.

The league held its Annual General Meeting over the weekend.

The start is still pending approval from public health authorities. The season would run until March 13th, 2022 with the playoffs to start March 16th.

The annual Showcase is also scheduled for mid-January.

“After a very long 16-months for all of our teams, players and fans, we’re very excited to get to work on our 2021-22 season with the puck dropping on Friday, September 24th.” said GOJHL Commissioner Brent Garbutt. “Despite it being a few weeks later than normal, we believe this date will allow sufficient time for our players and teams to prepare while maintaining our top priority of their health and safety.”

The GOJHL also announced its Board of Directors.

Caledonia’s Scott Miller returns as Chairman and Tim Simmons from London is Vice Chairman. Niagara Falls’ Frank Pietrangelo, Listowel’s Matt Miller and Pelham’s Tim Toffolo round out the group as Directors.
