OMHA mourns passing of former Regional Director and WOAA President Dave Garinger

The Ontario Minor Hockey Association is mourning the passing of former Regional Director, Dave Garinger.

Garinger's passing was announced in an article on the OMHA website March 1st. He served as the President of the Wiarton Minor Hockey and Shallow Lake Minor Hockey Associations, on top of coaching minor softball and minor hockey teams, sometimes all at once. Garinger also served as a softball and hockey convenor for the WOAA and as a hockey convener for the OMHA. He accompanied OMHA teams on European tours to play internationally, as well, on numerous occasions, acting as the travelling team's Hockey Canada rep.

Additionally, Garinger was a carded umpire for the WOAA form 1979 until 2000. He served on and chaired on numerous OMHA committees and served in various roles for the WOAA including President and Vice President.

In the release on. the OMHA website, the organization states that "Dave cherished the friendships he earned both in his teaching career and in volunteering alongside his colleagues in the WOAA and OMHA."

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
