Ironmen comeback in the third, advance in PJHL Playoffs

The Wingham Ironmen are moving on in the PJHL Pollock Division Playoffs and will face Hanover in the semi-finals.

Wingham beat Kincardine 3-2 Saturday night to win the series 4-2.

Kincardine got on the board first when Steven Grant scored 1:29 in the first period.

In the second period, Wingham defenceman Dawson Fahrer scored on the power play to tie the game at 4:34. Kincardine regained the lead when Gavin Downs scored at 12:41.

The third period belonged to Wingham. Nate Bloemberg scored at the 6:35 mark to tie it. Then Evan Visser scored the go-ahead goal just under five minutes later, unassisted. That was the winner.

It was another tight game with the shots 22-15 in favour of Wingham. And it was the fifth time in the series that a game was decided by just one goal.

Wingham will now go on to face Hanover in the semi-finals. The Barons are coming off a first-round bye. The other semi-final will pit Mitchell up against Mount Forest. Both of those teams swept their first-round series.
