Cyclones will try to keep playoffs going at home

The Listowel Cyclones were able to stay within striking distance in Game 3 of their GOJHL Conference Quarter-Final.

But the KW Siskins pulled out a 4-2 win in Waterloo Sunday afternoon for a 3-0 series lead.

The Cyclones got an early opportunity on the power play, but it was KW that struck first as Blake Widman scored short handed at the 12:45 mark.

Listowel would tie the game minutes later with a rush by Carter Coombs, who scored his first of the playoffs.

After no scoring in the second period, the Siskins went ahead on a third period power play goal scored by Andrew Van Antwerp at 2:52. Listowel captain Jaden Goldie tied it at 7:02.

The Siskins went ahead for good on Van Antwerp's second goal of the game at 8:54. And empty net goal late in the period sealed it for the Siskins.

Listowel goalie Dixon Grimes made 31 saves while Cy Martin made 32 saves for KW.

The Listowel Cyclones host Game 4 Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

In other GOJHL action on Sunday, Stratford beat Ayr 1-0 for a 3-0 series lead and Elmira shut out Brantford 4-0 for a 3-0 series lead as well.
