WOAA Senior League rebrands as Ontario Elite Hockey League

Teams from the now former WOAA Senior Hockey League have formed a new league.

A release from the new Ontario Elite Hockey League states that ten former teams are joining, and they have partnered with the Ontario Hockey Association. There are also two new expansion franchises.

The league was run by the WOAA for over 8 decades. In a post on the new league's Facebook page, they state that "there was absolutely no ill will or dissatisfaction with the WOAA." The new league feels that this new endeavour is best for the future of the league and its teams.

The ten former WOAA teams joining the OEHL are the Creemore Coyotes, Durham Thundercats, Lucknow Lancers, Milverton 4 Wheel Drives, Minto 81's, Ripley Wolves, Saugeen Shores Winterhawks, Seaforth Centenaires, Shelburne Muskies & Tavistock Royals.

In addition, expansion teams have been granted to the Georgian Bay Applekings in Thornbury and the Erin Outlaws Hockey Club.
