Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Sarnia-Lambton in the late afternoon Monday as an area of strong to severe storms approached in advance of a sharp cold front.
Strong winds were the main threat with a gust to 91 km/h recorded at Windsor airport. Torrential rain and large hail were also possible according to forecasters.
The storms, however, weakened and the warning for Sarnia-Lambton was ended around 6:15pm.
Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says a tornado watch had been posted earlier in the afternoon because conditions were favourable for the possible formation of a tornado.
The tornado watch ended at 7pm.
