Grocery Store Strike Looms

Workers at nine Loblaws-owned grocery stores in southwestern Ontario, including those at the Real Canadian Superstore in Sarnia, are poised to walk off the job Thursday. 1,600 members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union rejected a tentative contract agreement and will be in a legal strike position at 12:01am July 2. Shawn Haggerty, President of UFCW Local 175, says they're asking people in Lambton, Kent and Essex counties not to cross the picket lines at the affected stores if the strike proceeds.
