The Noelle's Gift Foundation made its annual donation to the Ontario Student Nutrition Program that feeds 8,000 students throughout 46 area schools.
The $13,418 is 20 per cent more than the previous annual donation. The foundation made the formal announcement Tuesday morning at Sarnia's Alexander MacKenzie Secondary School.
Student Nutrition Teacher Christina Iacobelli says she sees the daily benefits in her students.
"Some of our students have a long bus ride in and don't have time to eat breakfast, others simply don't have healthy options at home," says Iacobelli.
"We have about 140 students who access the program daily and we find that students who have a healthy breakfast are more alert and more attentive in class."
To date, Noelle’s Gift has raised over $600,000.
The charity was formed after the tragic death of 27-year-old school teacher Noelle Paquette in early 2013, and officially became a registered charity in November 2015.
