City Police Inundated By Scam Reports

The Sarnia Police Service says it's getting numerous calls from residents who have been contacted by someone claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Constable John Sottosanti says they're urging residents to report any such incidents to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

"The Sarnia Police Service and their dispatch have been inundated with phone calls. Not necessarily people actually falling victim by handing out information or money, but just by receiving the phone calls from these people," says Sottosanti.

"As long as you haven't given out any information, or lost any money, there's nothing that we can do at this time. We ask that people refrain from calling police unless they have actually fallen victim."

The Canada Revenue Agency scam is very common during tax season.

To report any suspicious calls, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
