The children of a Wyoming man, in prison for the murder of their mother 20 years ago, are in complete agreement with a judge's decision to deny their father early parole.
Don Campbell was convicted of first degree murder in the January 1998 death of 45-year-old Fenny Campbell.
Campbell, now aged 65, bludgeoned his wife to death in the garage of their Wyoming home, and then tried to make it look like she died in a car crash, by maneuvering their vehicle, with his dead wife behind the wheel, into the back of a parked truck on Broadway Street.
Superior Court Justice Kirk Munroe found the former executive director of the Lambton County Association for the Mentally Handicapped, while a model prisoner, has shown absolutely no remorse.
Joel Campbell, who was 18 at the time of the murder, said the judge made the right decision in his father's case, and they're thankful for the ongoing support of friends, family and community.
"We've known about this process for a few months as it's been underway. There's that waiting period, but we stick strongly together, we have strong faith, we rely on each other and on God, and we make it through."
Campbell was able to pursue early parole after 15 years in prison, under the faint hope clause, because he killed his wife before 2011 when that Criminal Code of Canada statute was abolished.
He's serving a sentence of life in prison but is eligible to apply for parole after 25 years.
