A $1.3 million renovation and upgrade of Sarnia's YMCA Jerry McCaw Family Centre is underway.

Senior Vice President of Operations Kathi Lomas-McGee announced Friday that a $150,000 Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant has been received for the project.
That money is for heating and cooling system upgrades in the 23-year-old facility.
"We've been really fortunate, there's a lot of grants that tend to support programs and people which are just as critical, but infrastructure is something that -- in a building like this -- if we don't maintain, we're just not able to deliver the quality that our participants deserve," said Lomas-McGee.
General Manager Paul Skuza said they've already installed a new cooling unit in the pool area, repaired the roof and upgraded the wellness area.
A new unit will be purchased with the Trillium Grant to cool the gymnasium wing of the building.
Skuza said a refresh of the fitness floor is planned in August and another HVAC system will arrive in the fall for the change rooms and studio.
He said they've also met with Bluewater Power to discuss lighting upgrades and ways to improve the building's efficiency.
