Local food banks want to 'Stuff the Bus'

You're being asked to help "Stuff the Bus" on Saturday.

It's hoped two Sarnia Transit buses will be filled with non-perishable food items that will be passed along to the Salvation Army and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Two fundraising barbecues will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Northgate Metro and Food Basics on Indian Road.

Buses will be at Bright's Grove Foodland and Corunna No Frills at 9 a.m., Walmart and Corunna Foodland just after 10 a.m., Food Basics at 11:20 a.m. and Sarnia No Frills at 11:30 a.m.

Buses will also stop at Giant Tiger and Ken's Valu-mart at 12:30 p.m., Northgate Metro at 1:30 p.m. and Metro London Rd. at 1:45 p.m.

There's a particular need for diapers, toilet paper, feminine products, canned fruit and peanut butter.

In 2018, just under 10,000 pounds of food was collected.
