Smoke alarms alert occupants to house fire on Waterworks

The St. Clair Township fire department says the occupants of a home on Waterworks Road were alerted by working smoke alarms to a fire Friday evening.

Firefighters from the Brigden and Corunna stations responded to a structure fire near Lasalle Line.

In a Facebook post, St. Clair Fire said crews immediately started an offensive fire attack and the blaze was put out without incident or injury.

A cause or damage estimate were not immediately available.

St. Clair Fire reminds everyone that early detection by smoke alarms provides more time to escape a fire, and recommends developing and practicing a home fire escape plan.
