UPDATE: Police nab suspect shortly after convenience store robbery

A 36-year-old man is charged in connection with the robbery of a south end Sarnia convenience store early Monday morning.

Sarnia police said at about 4:40 a.m. a man with a bandana covering his face, and wielding a crowbar entered a store in the 200 block of Confederation Street. He went directly behind the front counter, stole a small amount of cash from the till, and then fled eastbound on Confederation on a bicycle.

A description of the suspect was provided based on security footage and at about 5:20 a.m., an arrest was made in the area of Ontario Street and Shepherd Street.

Lee Edward Oliver was remanded in custody following a bail hearing on charges of robbery, disguise with intent, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
