Forest lottery winner plans to buy her first house

An engaged, 42-year-old, mother of one is planning to buy her first house after winning a top prize in the OLG's The Big Spin game.

Deirdre Degroot of Forest said she was in shock when she found out she would get the chance to spin the big wheel in Toronto.

“I came home to tell my fiancé, but no one really believed me until I showed them my ticket and validation slip,” said Degroot. “My fiancé wasn’t with me when I won the in-store spin, and he had only ever won $10 on this game so it was hard for him to believe!”

She hoped it would land on the $500,000 prize when she spun the wheel in Toronto.

“But, I feel pretty good about winning $200,000. I can pay off some bills and plan to buy a house.”

The top prize for the game is $1 million.

The winning ticket was purchased at Main Street Variety in Forest.
