Murder charges against three of four accused in death of Jim Wilson withdrawn

Charges of second degree murder against three of four people in the death of a downtown Sarnia store owner were withdrawn this week.

Destiny Star Phillips, 26, Brandon Michael Knight, 24, and Donald Albert Shawanoo, 57, all of Sarnia, were charged August 30 in connection with the death of 76-year-old Jim Wilson.

The charges were formally withdrawn at the request of the Crown for lack of any reasonable prospect of conviction.

Jackson Henry, 21, of Sarnia still faces a charge of second degree murder in the case and has a video court appearance scheduled for December 21. He was arrested on September 1.

Wilson was found with unspecified injuries in the 100 block of College Avenue North on Sunday, August 30 after police had been called to investigate an assault at about 2:50 p.m. He died later in hospital.

Jim Wilson owned and operated a store called Cowboys & Indians at 121 Christina St. N.
