Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 caseload is now just under the 1,000 mark.
Lambton Public Health reported a new daily record of 65 confirmed cases in its update Monday, now at 999 cases since March 25, 2020.
The health unit said 34 more cases have been deemed resolved, up to 678.
There's now 293 active infections locally, an increase of 31 since Sunday.
Lambton Public Health is currently monitoring 16 outbreaks, six in long-term care homes, eight in workplaces, and two at schools. Five workplace outbreaks have been declared over since December 30.
Loblaw Companies Ltd. reported on its website that as of Sunday, January 3, two employees had tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 at Sarnia's Real Canadian Super Store on Murphy Road. The company said the last day the employees worked was December 21 and December 28.
The death toll locally stands at 28, unchanged since December 19.
Bluewater Health is reporting six COVID-positive patients in hospital, one in the ICU.
