UPDATE: Sarnia police identify man charged in Lee Court homicide

Sarnia police have released the name of a man charged in connection with the city's second homicide of the year.

Police said Thursday afternoon that Joseph Dominic Dicarlo, 45, of Sarnia has been charged with first degree murder in the death of a woman in the city's north end.

At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, police, fire and EMS responded to a call about a woman suffering serious injuries at a home on Lee Court, off Murphy Road north of Michigan Avenue.

The woman, who has not been named, was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead. A suspect was arrested at the scene.

Police said the victim and the accused were known to each other and they do not have any concerns for public safety. The residence on Lee Court remains an active crime scene.

Dicarlo has been remanded in custody and will next appear in court January 19, 2021 by video.

Sarnia police also continue to investigate a homicide in the 900 block of Confederation Street. They were called to the scene Saturday, January 9.
