Active COVID caseload holds steady, two outbreaks over

A COVID-19 outbreak declared last month at Afton Park Place in Sarnia is over.

During the outbreak at the long-term care home, Lambton Public Health reported 10 confirmed cases of the virus among staff, two residents tested positive and one resident died.

The health unit also reported Tuesday that an outbreak at an unnamed workplace had ended, resulting in no active outbreaks in the community.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased by five to 3,493 and the number of resolved cases is up by five to 3,400, leaving the active case count at 33.

Bluewater Health Communications Chief Julia Oosterman said there was another COVID-related death, a 51-year-old woman.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 49 deaths at the hospital linked to the virus.

Bluewater Health had two positive patients in hospital.
