COVID-19 cases continue to spike

Nearly 30 new COVID-19 infections were reported Friday in Sarnia-Lambton.

In its daily update, Lambton Public Health reported 28 new confirmed cases for a total of 4,603 since the start of the pandemic. The number of resolved cases went up by 12 to 4,396, increasing the active case count by 16 to 129.

The death toll is unchanged at 78 and there are seven active outbreaks, up one from Thursday. The latest three were declared at unnamed workplaces.

Outbreaks at St. Anne Catholic School and St. Bartholomew's Early Childhood Learning Centre have ended.

Bluewater Health has 13 COVID-positive patients in hospital, up one in the last 24 hours.
