UPDATE: Two taken to hospital in water rescue

Two people remain in hospital after being pulled from Lake Huron in Point Edward Saturday.

Police received a report of a possible drowning at a beach near Fort Street just before noon.

The Sarnia and Point Edward Fire Departments, along with the United States Coast Guard, and a member of the public, assisted Lambton OPP in rescuing two people who were in distress in the water.

Both were taken to Bluewater Health for treatment.

Lambton OPP previously reported a 37-year-old woman from Ottawa had died. It has since been determined the woman is still in hospital in critical condition.

Police also said a male individual, who family say was attempting to rescue the woman, has been transferred to London hospital, and was not treated and released as previously stated.
