A Wallaceburg business, specializing in vape products, will expand into St. Clair Township this fall.
Vape on the Run Owner Supreet Saini said the new store is expected to open on Saturday, October 1 at 201 Hill St. in Corunna.
"We do have a lot of clientele that actually travel from Corunna to Wallaceburg -- and even from Sarnia to Wallaceburg as well, and this option is something that they kind of presented to us," said Saini.
The store's parent company has been operating out of a gas station in Wallaceburg since 2013.
Saini said they recently acquired the permit to post signage at the Corunna location. Once the store opens its doors, a member from Lambton Public Health will inspect the facility in order to issue a vaping license.
St. Clair Township council was notified of the vape store's intent to open a location in the municipality in early August.
There was an initial misunderstanding of what Vape on the Run would be selling as St. Clair Township had previously deemed itself an unwilling host for cannabis retail.
"We're totally different from the cannabis industry. This vape industry is just an extension of the traditional tobacco industry," Saini said.
"We work very ethically and in a morally-responsible manner. We are a good corporate citizen and we will abide by all the regulations."
The specialty shop in Corunna will be open seven days a week from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saini said they plan to create two to three full-time and part-time positions.
