Sarnia police investigating hit and run

Sarnia police are investigating after a cyclist was struck by a hit and run driver Monday afternoon.

According to police, emergency crews responded to a crash on Michigan Avenue near Briarfield Avenue at around 2:47 p.m. Officers say the cyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries in the collision, however the driver of the vehicle accused of hitting the rider took off from the scene.

The vehicle in question is described as a red hatchback, and will likely have front-end damage to it due to the crash.

"If a member of the public becomes aware of a vehicle matching this description, with new damage consistent with this type of collision, please contact the Sarnia Police Service," read a statement from police.

Those residing in the area who have home security cameras are asked to check their footage around the timeframe of the incident for possible evidence.

Criminal charges laid in April collision

On April 21 at around 4:40 a.m., a vehicle slammed into the traffic lights at the intersection of Finch Drive and Wellington Street and rolled, landing on its roof.
