Sarnia council will consider five options Monday, to appeal modifications made by the County of Lambton to the city's new official plan.
The document was returned in December, but the settlement boundary expansion for the lands south of Lakeshore Road, east of Brigden Road and west of Waterworks Road, in Bright's Grove were removed.
Sarnia-Lambton Association of Realtors President Rob Longo said they would like council to request a Community Infrastructure and Housing Accelerator (CIHA) Order for the boundary expansion.
"The county has rejected the city's official plan, so we're really hopeful that the city council next week continues to uphold the plans and decision of the previous city council, which would be to move forward with the urban growth boundary expansion in Bright's Grove, which I think would be a large benefit for all of Sarnia-Lambton for years to come," said Longo.
Council will also consider working on a revised boundary expansion area with the county, appealing the decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal, requesting a Minister's Zoning Order, or withdrawing the appeal.
"We will be submitting some information, as I know the home builders will as well," Longo added. "But, obviously, we're just very optimistic and hopeful that the new city council upholds what the previous city council had proposed, which would be expanding the urban growth boundary in Bright's Grove."
