Dog bite incident reported in Forest

Lambton Public Health is looking to confirm the health status of a dog after someone was bit outside of the Tim Hortons restaurant in Forest.

The dog bite incident occurred on March 9 at 9:30 p.m.

The health unit said the dog was tied up outside of the restaurant at the time, and the person who was bit did not see the dog's owner.

The dog is described as a large, dark brown and black mastiff. It also had a black collar and a brown leash.

Anyone with information related to the dog and its owner is asked to contact the health unit at 519-383-8331 ext. 3584 or toll-free 1-800-667-1839.

If the dog's health status is not verified, the victim will need to receive post-exposure rabies shots.
