Sarnia-Lambton COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinics closing

COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinics (CCFCC) are closing across Ontario, including Sarnia-Lambton.

The closure, which takes effect Saturday, April 1, is due to a decrease in positive cases of the virus.

The local centres affected are Twin Bridges CCFCC, Rapids Family Health Team CCFCC, Rural CCFCC-Wyoming Wellness Centre and the Grand Bend CCFCC.

The Sarnia-Lambton COVID-19 assessment centres have been open since the start of the pandemic in March 2020 and have conducted over 111,770 PCR tests and over 7,371 clinical assessments. In December 2022, the centres expanded to offer assessments for anyone with the virus, cold and flu-like illnesses.

"The contributions these teams have made to the quality of our local health system during the pandemic has been outstanding,” said Kathy Bresett, Chair, Sarnia-Lambton OHT Collaboration Council and Executive Director, North Lambton Community Health Centre.

Health System Integration Lead for the Sarnia-Lambton Ontario Health Team Nadine Neve, said individuals requiring COVID-19 assessment, testing or antiviral treatment after Friday, March 31, are advised to contact their primary care provider, or a local pharmacy which offers testing and treatment.

"Additionally in Sarnia-Lambton, we are having the Wyoming-Wellness Centre and Rapids Family Health Team continue to provide some additional access for primary care for assessments by appointment," said Neve.

She also reminds residents to continue to take actions to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.

"Continuing to encourage the residents of Sarnia-Lambton to wash your hands regularly, stay at home if you're sick and keep up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines."
