Easter Bunny hops into Corunna

A free family-fun event will return to the Corunna Athletic Park on Sunday, April 2 where children can take part in egg hunts and take a photo with the Easter Bunny.

The Optimist Club of Moore and Lambton County Junior Optimist Club will host the 15th annual Easter Egg Hunt from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Melissa Atyeo said Easter egg hunts will be separated by age groups and times will be staggered at 15 minute intervals, beginning at 12 p.m. The age groups are three and under, three to six, six to eight, eight to 10, and 10 to 12.

Children can also have a close-up look at a fire truck and a police cruiser while at the park.

"St. Clair Fire is always great to come out and bring their fire trucks to all our events, as well as the OPP," Atyeo said.

She said last year's event saw record numbers in attendance.

"We do have enough stuff for 550 kids this year, so quite a bit more than we had last year," she said.

Everything at the event will be free, except for a BBQ lunch which will cost $5, and comes with a hot dog, water, and chips. Money raised will go back to the community through other events or school initiatives.

Atyeo said the club is always looking for new members. Those interested can contact Club President Mary Lou Abrams at 519-862-3950.
