Thank a nurse this week

We're being encouraged to thank a nurse this week.

National Nursing Week runs from May 8 to 14 and the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario and other nursing associations from across Canada have launched the #HeyNurse campaign.

The groups are asking members of the public to share personal thank you messages, memorable stories, photos or videos about nurses with the hashtag to social media.

The campaign highlights the work nurses do to keep Canadians healthy and care for them when they are ill.

Bluewater Health is highlighting its longest serving nurse this week. In a Facebook post, the hospital said Brenda has worked for 42 years locally.

She started her nursing career in Petrolia, at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital, where she worked for 25 years. She then moved into day surgery where she supports surgery patients in both Sarnia and Petrolia’s Pat Mailloux Eye Centre.
