Alleged impaired driver makes a splash in St. Clair River

Sarnia police say a suspected impaired driver drove her car into the St. Clair River late Monday night.

First responders were called to Ferry Dock Hill off of Front Street at around 11 p.m.

Police said the driver, in her early 20s, and an unspecified number of occupants were uninjured in the crash.

The suspect was arrested for failing to provide a breath sample and has since been released.

The St. Clair County Dive Team was immediately called in to help remove the vehicle from the waterway to prevent any environmental damage.
