Emergency sewer repairs close portion of busy Sarnia road

A portion of a major Sarnia road will be closed to traffic for at least several hours on Friday.

Public Works Manager Tony D'Agostini said Indian Road will be shut down from Devine Street to Talfourd Street as of 6:30 a.m. for emergency sewer repairs.

Crews will be using an excavator to repair a large sinkhole that has developed at the northwest corner of Indian and Devine.

D'Agostini said it's an issue with either the sanitary main line on the west side of the road, or with the storm drain in the middle of the road.

There will be no through traffic permitted, and residents are urged to find an alternate route.

It's not known when the road will reopen, but updates will be provided as they become available.
