Pizza party planned at Petrolia park

The smell of pepperoni and mozzarella will fill the air this weekend in Petrolia.

It's Pizzafest at Victoria Park on Saturday, June 3.

Director of Marketing, Arts and Communications Laurissa Ellsworth said there are six pizzerias participating this year-Bud's Family Pizza, Domino's Pizza, Johnny G's Premium Pizza Plus, Petrolia Pizza Hut, Petrolia Pizza and Subs and Wise Guys Inc. She said over the past 10 years, the event has certainly grown in popularity.

"We didn't really know what to expect when we started," said Ellsworth. "I mean, Petrolia does have a lot of pizza restaurants and we knew this was going to be a great celebration of the wonderful things we have. We expected a few thousand slices, we didn't know exactly what it was going to end up like, but in 2022, we actually sold over 7,000 slices of pizza."

Ellsworth said the family fun event is on from noon until 7 p.m. at Victoria Park.

"We have four bands coming through, there's bouncy castles for the kids and the beer garden for those who can't miss the opportunity to have beer and pizza together," she said. "The service clubs are there selling ice cream, selling candy, selling pop, pizza-poutine, all kinds of things."

Admission is free, and pizza is $2.50 a slice.
